Gemmen’s Ace is located in Hudsonville, MI, and we are proud to have served as your local hometown hardware store for over 70 years.

In 1955, our founder, Al Gemmen, purchased Meyer’s Hardware and renamed it Gemmen’s. At the time, Meyer’s was primarily a plumbing supply store, but Al saw the opportunity to grow it into something more and began expanding its offerings. In those early days, he ran the store with just one employee by his side. As Hudsonville grew, so did Gemmen’s.

Hard work and loyal customers quickly turned that small operation into a thriving business, creating the need for a larger space. What started as a 4,000-square-foot store with a single employee has since grown into a 42,000-square-foot facility with more than seventy-five team members.

Today, Gemmen’s is proudly owned and operated by Andrew Gemmen, Al’s grandson, continuing a third generation of family ownership. While our location and size have changed over the years, our mission has remained the same: at Gemmen’s Ace, the customer always comes first. Our philosophy is simple—serve others as we would like to be served.

We are more than just your hometown hardware store; we are your friends and neighbors, and we are proud to know you by name. Over the past 70 years, our customers have become like family. We don’t just work in this community—we live here and raise our families here as well.
